Broadway is coming to Arkansas

Broadway is on its way to Arkansas.  For all those folks who have wanted to experience the glory of Broadway, yet couldn’t take the time to travel out of the state, well now’s the chance for an in-state experience of a lifetime. The line-up of Broadway shows coming to the Robinson Center Music Hall for the next eight months is nothing to sneeze at:

Cirque Dreams Holidaze, Nov. 27-29

Nothing says Christmas like snowmen, classic carols and death defying trapeze. Cirque Dreams Holidaze promises to be a magical show; tight rope walking, mid-air tricks and soaring performers themed to the Christmas season. Appropriate for the whole family, and only an hour and a half long. Tickets go on sale Oct. 27, and range from $114-$573.

West Side Story, Jan. 29- 31

Romeo and Juliet is a story that has been done to death. There are so many adaptations of this Shakespearean love story that it’s hard to keep track of the fairly decent ones. “West Side Story” happens to be one of those good ones. Taking a more contemporary view on the classic, it’s set in a 1950s New York City. The musical has won many awards for its scores, and is praised as a wonderful love story. The show is recommended for people above the age of 13, and tickets are for sale between $125-$321 as of Jan. 1.

100 Years of Broadway, Feb. 26- 28

Broadway has been around for an awful long time, and many songs from Broadway shows are well known by most. If you threw all the best known Broadway songs, the actors from those shows and Neil Burg leading the way through the show, then you have the recipe for 100 Years of Broadway. Performing songs from such musicals as “Phantom of the Opera” “Les Misérable” and much more, this show is guarantied to satisfy die-hard fans of Broadway. Appropriate for all ages, and tickets go on sale Jan. 26 for $124-$590.

Monty Pythons Spamalot, April 1- 2

“Monty Python and the Holy Grail” may just be the most hilarious movies of all time. Its witty dialogue and loveable characters are definitely memorable. “Spamalot” is a musical that stated itself as a rip off of the unforgettable movie. The story is the same, just with some more songs thrown in. “Monty Python’s Spamalot is probably the most irreverent show imaginable,” drama teacher Rachel Arrington said. It’s a winner of a Tony Award, and recommended for fans of the classic film; the tickets go on sale March 4, and the prices have yet to be announced.

Jersey Boys June 19-23

Just about everybody knows “Jersey Boys.” Maybe they have admired the musical for years, or have just heard its name through the grapevine. Either way, most claim it as one of the greatest Broadway shows out there, and it’s coming to Arkansas. Winner of a Tony, Grammy and Oliver Award, the glory story of the rising of The Four Seasons is definitely nothing to miss. The tickets go on sale for $112-$606 May 11, although it should be cautioned that the show is only appropriate for 16 and up.
