This week’s school cafeteria lunches were a mix of satisfying and disappointing meals. Some meals stood out with their flavorful and filling ingredients than other meals who lacked seasoning and balance. After trying each meal, here is how I would rank this week’s lunches from best to worst.
Monday (Tex-mex)—2nd place

Monday’s meal was Doritos with ground beef and nacho cheese, topped with lettuce and a side of brown beans.
Taste
The nachos were a little plain and lacked melted cheese which made it somewhat dry, and the beans had almost no flavor provided, so I was very disappointed.
Texture
The Doritos added a satisfying crunch, but the cheese and toppings made the Doritos a bit soggy.
Even though it lacked flavor, it was still somewhat enjoyable. I would still recommend this dish if you’re looking for something filling and easy on the stomach. Overall, it earned a 7.8/10
Tuesday (Asian line)—-4th place

Tuesday’s lunch included chicken, rice and a side of golden corn.
Taste
The chicken had a sweet and savory taste that made it very delicious. The rice was very bland with no seasoning whatsoever, and the corn was sweet but plain.
Texture
The chicken’s texture was tender and slightly crispy. The corn was refreshing but not filling.
Overall the chicken was probably the best thing out of this meal. If you’re looking for something filling and satisfactory, this meal shouldn’t be your top pick. The meal earned a 6.4/10 overall.
Wednesday (homestyle)—-1st place

On Wednesday, the homestyle meal had crispy chicken strips and sweet waffles with fries.
Taste
The chicken was flavorful and tender. The waffle had a sensational sugary feeling that was rich in sweetness and was very filling.
Texture
The chicken tender had a nice golden, crunchy outside and a juicy inside that made every bite enjoyable. The waffle was nice, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, but it was still a bit dry without the syrup. The fries were crispy and fried well enough that it made waiting in line worth it.
Overall the chicken tenders were one of my favorite things about the meal and made for my favorite lunch of the week. I would recommend this meal if you want something sweet and savory. Overall, I’d rate in an 8.9/10
Thursday (grab and go) —-5th place

Thursday’s meal contained chicken wings, waffle fries and a side roll.
Taste
The wings lacked flavor and didn’t have the sweet-savory sensation. The waffle fries were a much better part of the meal as the fries were crunchy and well done. The roll was plain and bland.
Texture
The chicken wings had a soft, chewy texture that felt very gooey and mushy. The waffle fries had a crispy coating and delicious texture, but the roll was rough on the outside.
Overall the only thing I enjoyed about it was the waffle fries, everything else was neither special or amazing but it is a good quick and easy meal to grab when in a hurry. I give it a 4.5/10
Friday (pizza line)——3rd place

Friday’s pizza line served mini-mozzarella pizza sticks with a side of marinara sauce.
Taste
The mini-mozzarella sticks were a great but slightly unbalanced meal, that didn’t have enough cheese inside, and was filled with a bit too much pizza sauce.
Texture
The pizza sticks had a nice crispy outer layer and gave it a yummy crunch, that was still very tasty.
Overall the meal was still fairly flavorful but felt more like a snack than a full meal and wouldn’t fill you up. But if you are craving a quick and savory bite, the mini-mozzarella sticks are the way to go. I’d rate it a 7.6/10
All and all, this week’s lunches had a mix of very satisfying and flavorful meals, while some others had a dry or bland taste. Even so, the cafeteria offers many different food varieties, and I recommend trying different types of foods to see which one you’ll enjoy the most.
