Zootopia came out in 2016, it shows furry friends Judy Hops and Nick Wild on a mission for justice in their mega city. With the recent and long wanted release of Zootopia 2, fans are left wondering what is left to be said. How do the two stories differ? Let’s compare.
To begin with, the stories both have a theme of fighting prejudice and finding equality. Judy and Nick are still fighting crime and trying to reach a solution to the rooted bias against other animals inside their home. They both possess elements of prejudice and government control.
However, The first movie portrays Judy Hop’s journey as an animal portrayed as “weak” while trying to prove herself as worthy in a job usually taken up by larger animals. She does this all while protecting her predator friends from government corruption. While the second movie plays more into the background of how Zootopia came to be and uncovering who truly discovered it.
Both movies fall under the genre of comedy, mystery and animated adventure but they fall heavier in some of those categories compared to the other. The first movie falls into the comedy aspect more than the second. It does go into dark themes occasionally but over all the whole move is kind of light hearted.
The second movie leans more into the mystery genre. It has a heavier plot and more complex character backgrounds. The whole movie is a plot twist with several moments that leaves you on the edge of your seat.
Both Zootopia and Zootopia 2 are fun movies to watch but they approach the plot and the audience differently. Again, the first movie is more happy and giggly. The second movie is more thrilling and nerve-wrecking.
Zootopia 2 was a great movie that really helps people understand the significance of what’s going on in our modern world with characters and a plot that is easy to understand. The ending was really interesting and gave a deeper backstory to the first movie
