Target collaborates with famous fashion designers

This holiday season, name brand clothing designers will no longer be available only in the big cities, but here in little old Bryant. Target has collaborated with all the designers that were not in reach before.

The partnership includes 24 designers. Previously, the collaboration was only one designer. In 1999, Target first partnered with architect and designer, Michael Graves.

Since it was such a hit, the executive decision to include more was made without hesitation. Big names include Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Diane Von Furstenberg and Jason Wu. The retailer had to initially collaborate with Neiman Marcus, a luxury specialty retail department store. Discounted items will be sold at all Target and Neiman Marcus stores and online.

Ready to shop, sophomore Gael Kim said she couldn’t wait to dig into the collections.

“I think the collaborations are a good idea. It gives people more chances to buy name brands in a more affordable price,” Kim said. “It also is a good business strategy for both Target and the designers. Their materials become easier to access.”

The collection became available to the public on December 1st. Consisting of over 50 items, the prices range from $7.99 to $499.99. Since all of these designers are apart of the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance, Target and Neiman Marcus are donating $1 million dollars. The CFDA is a non-profit trade organization for designers of fashion.
