When the original 1990’s “IT”, based on the 1986 novel by Stephen King, first came out, the movie left the audience with chills because of Tim Curry’s unsettling performance as Pennywise. Since then, more adaptations of the story have come to the big screen such as “IT”(2017) and “IT” Chapter 2 (2019).Now to screens at home with the new series, “IT: Welcome To Derry.”
First off they both have an interesting element that a real horror should have, themes of violence, survival and friendship. They both are examples of survival because of the characters’ actions, forcing them to comfort horrors that adults ignore. They also have Pennywise as the antagonist of both of the movies and the new series.
In contrast, the series is more realistic and grounded with horror, and dramatic effects. “IT” (2017) and “IT” Chapter 2 lean more towards trauma and violence and less about Georgie’s kidnapping.
Both the series and the movies fall under thriller and mystery. So far IT: Welcome to Derry has a stronger and put together plot than the movies. The series is much more realistic than the movies because it grounds the super-natural of real life historical events.
Both the series and movies are very terrifying, but they use horror in two different ways by relying on different approaches.“It: Welcome to Derry, is most definitely a good series and is certainly better than the “IT” (2017) and “IT” Chapter 2.
