Recycle bins around the school are placed and maintained by the Ecology Club. AP environmental and physics teacher Paula Johnson is in charge of the club. Her club does not participate in fundraisers, it obtains the funds from money collected from the recycled martials gathered from around campus. These materials include paper, aluminum and batteries. The Ecology Club teamed up with India Childress (Advertising and design teacher), Teachers of Tomorrow and National Honor Society to celebrate earth day at Heifer International, April 21 in Little Rock. The Ecology Club is in charge of the children’s area making crafts that have to do with sustainable materials and practices.
“Mostly we are in charge of recycling around the school,” Johnson said. “I have three officers who are also interns at Ottoman Arkansas and this year they are in charge of the Bio-Blitz.”
