March starts the beginning of prom season. While students shop for the trendiest dress or the perfect tux, a group of 25 members brainstorm ideas to make prom a lasting memory.
Prom committee members are responsible for brainstorming color and decoration ideas for prom, selling tickets during both lunches, decorating the morning of prom, nominated and voting for prom king and queen and taking down decorations after prom.
“We will have several meetings and first decide on colors and then we will decide whether we want to decorate to those colors or decorate towards a theme,” sponsor Laura Wooten said.
Prom committee decided that the colors for prom will be red and gold and the theme will be a red carpet/ Hollywood theme. Wooten said that she has already reserved the Statehouse Convention Center ballroom for 8 – 11p.m. Saturday, April 28.
The prom committee is open to all juniors and seniors interested in the committee and Wooten said that she is still looking for members.
