Job of the week: Jordan Ballentine

From running the cash register to making smoothies, junior Jordan Ballentine said she enjoys everything about her job at Tropical Smoothie. While looking for a job, Ballentine heard about the upcoming group interview for Tropical Smoothie. It was not much after the interview when they called her back for the job offer.

“It sounded really cool because it was new,” Ballentine said. “Plus, I really just needed a job.”

The job pays minimum wage and Ballentine works about four hours a day, but she said it’s definitely the best job she’s had so far. She has worked at Western Sizzlin before, but said Topical Smoothie is her favorite because it is a high school hangout and she feels more at ease.

“I work with a lot of people I already knew and a lot of my friends come to Tropical Smoothie,” Ballentine said. “It’s kind of like a teenage place to go.”

Ballentine said it’s very easy for her to work at Tropical Smoothie because it’s such a fun job. The responsibility is light and she knows all the routines.

“I just started working there, but I haven’t even noticed a thing I don’t like about it,” Ballentine said

Tropical Smoothie is in Benton by Tinseltown, where Shaky’s used to be. Ballentine said it’s fun to make smoothies and her personal favorite is Tropi-Colada.

“They have the ingredients on the wall and you just grab a blender and all the stuff that goes in it. Then you add the ice and blend it all together,” Ballentine said. “It’s really simple.”
