Passing on The Legacy

In preparation for 2013 marching season, three new drum majors were selected to lead the Legacy of Bryant Marching Band.  Senior Marissa Sides and juniors Caroline Cato and Cody Jones were selected after auditioning April 26

“I am nervous about being selected to be an important leader,” Sides said.  I want this band to succeed.”

As drum majors, Sides, Cato and Jones will collaborate together to lead and direct the band members during each rehearsal, football game and performance.

“I am most looking forward to leading a band with fellow awesome musicians,” Jones said.

At marching contests, drum major performances account for a percentage of the band’s overall score.  Over the past two years, the leaders have received 10 Division I (highest ranking) awards.

“Drum majors set the standards for the band,” Sides Said.  “I just don’t want to mess up.”

Drum majors selected are the band leaders for the 2013-2014 school year.  To audition for Legacy Drum Major students must be a member of Bryant Band involved in a band class fall and spring semester also receiving an academic A or B in band.
