Job of the week: Sean Shadle

A year and a half ago, junior Sean Shadle’s mother opened Custom Cakes and Creations bakery and he started working for her.

“I don’t really have a job title; I kind of do it all,” Shadle said. “I bake cakes and make cake balls. I run the cash register and deal with customers.

Shadle said he does enjoy his job but it’s not something he wants for a career.

“I like working for my mom because it’s really laid back, and it’s not like a regular job,” Shadle said.

He works from 3:45 to 7 or 8 p.m every weeknight, but doesn’t work weekends.

“Since I don’t get paid, I just ask my mom for money when I need it,” Shadle said. “It’s not so bad, but I’d rather get paid that way I have money all the time,”

Shadle said once a misplaced order slip caused a customer to sit and wait. The customer was not angry though.

“We forgot an order of cake balls, and we had to run back and hurry up and dip them,” Shadle said.

Shadle said managing school and having a job wasn’t difficult and he could do his homework there if he needs to.
