Journalism staff wins big in San Antonio

The newspaper and yearbook staff attended the National Scholastic Press Association/Journalism Education Association fall convention in San Antonio, TX Nov. 15-18. Over 4,500 students attended the convention and over 1,700 competed in write-off competitions. The staff brought home 21 individual awards.

Each year at the national convention, the staffs submit their most recent publication to compete in the Best of Show. The NSPA recognizes 10 yearbooks, 10 newspapers and 10 websites (based on the size of school and size of publication) in the competition. The schools must have at least one student at the convention to compete.

Prospective (Nov. issue) – Seventh place
Prospective Online – Fourth place

 

During the 2011-2012 school year, journalism students submitted designs and photos for the national Picture & Design of the Year Contests. Five students placed in this contest.
