Beth Morris leads swarm

Standing in the front row of the student section, rain or shine, senior Beth Morris leads chants as Swarm president. As a part of Swarm since her sophomore year, she was elected by last year’s presidents Allie Hogancamp, Nathan Nelson, Trevor Page and Brandon Powell. Morris has big shoes to fill.

“I kind of already knew I would be president; I was the most active junior last year,” Morris said. “And they knew I wanted to be president.”

Although Morris is the only president, she is accompanied by vice presidents, juniors Ashlee Caton, Jacob Irby and Davis Nossaman and secretary, senior Hannah Rice.

“It’s really stressful at times, but we do everything together. As a senior, I just have the final say,” Morris said.

As president, Morris has to plan the activities for the pep rallies. She said it can be overwhelming.

“Deciding to take away the roller coaster caused some stress. It was difficult trying to decide what we would replace it with,” Morris said.

Making the final decision, they replaced the rollercoaster with a dance to the song “Interlude.”

Fulfilling her duty as president, she is still coming up with ideas and managing her time for both school and Swarm.

“Managing my time is hard, but I just do it,” Morris said. I think it’s helping me prepare for college because I plan to be involved in all the activities there.”
