Nancy Lafferty’s student senate class traveled to the Arkansas Rice Depot Wednesday, Sept. 19 to volunteer for the organization. The group donated canned goods, but also packaged bread and bagged rice. The Rice Depot provides food for local food pantries and according to their website, the Rice Depot “distributes over 8 million pounds of food and supplies a year.”
“It was a good experience,” senior Ashley Park said. “I really had fun packing the rice, knowing that it would feed hundreds of people who don’t have food or a home. It was a profound experience.”
