Students from various clubs are preparing for an Earth Day festival, April 21 at Heifer Village in downtown Little Rock from 11 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“Several students need volunteer hours,” graphic design teacher India Childress said, “so I suggested to several clubs that they come help with the children’s area at the festival.”
Students will create booths and stands from recycled material that will show elementary students how to do creative activities by using sustainable products.
“We have one booth that will use sustainable beads and recycled magazine pieces to make bracelets,” Childress said, “We also have a different booth that will have a spa using all organic products.”
Heifer International will be sponsoring the event.
“Heifer is a giant organization set up to teach students about sustainable living in our state.” Childress said.
The event is free.
“I have 30 or 40 students volunteering right now,” Childress said, “but I still have slots for any others that would like to help out.”
