The smell of tanning lotion and cleaning supplies has become all too familiar for junior Amber McFadden while working at Tahiti Tans.

“I have been with Tahiti for two months now,” McFadden sad. “I trained for the first month, but didn’t start officially working until a month ago.”Working weeknights 4-8 pm and some weekends, McFadden finds a balance between school and work schedule.

“When all the cleaning and duties for the night are done, we may read or do homework at the desk,” McFadden said.

After a month of training, McFadden learned the basic rules of Tahiti.

“Politeness towards customers and fellow workers is important,” McFadden said. “We also pride ourselves on how nice we keep the facility. We clean beds after every use, sweep the floors and clean the mirrors at the end of the night.

Tahiti offers different tanning packages and many different kinds of tanning beds. Informing customers on the requested times and the best tanning lotions, McFadden builds a bond with frequent customers.

“My favorite part is the loyal customers because they always have a smile on their face,” McFadden said. “We put emphasis on customer care and in return the customers grow to love us.”
