Get Cross Fit

Cross Fit Legit | Madeline Colclasure

Fitness centers have kept the community in shape, but a new kind of gym is setting itself apart from the rest. Cross Fit Legit in Midtown combines physical and emotional strength in a user-friendly environment.

Owner Jason Miller believes Cross Fit Legit is the gym people need to stay dedicated to their fitness goals.

“We choose Cross Fit because it encompasses fitness in its entirety. We don’t just run, or lift, or do bodyweight or long or short workouts.  We do it all. We do it all because fitness is not just about one aspect of health or fitness. It’s about all of it,” Miller said.

Through beginning meetings and starter classes, coaches individually learn about the student’s goals and ability, placing them in a class that would be beneficial. Classes range from 5 to 20, letting classes get to know each other on a more personal level. The smaller classes allow for a personalized workout, letting members call a routine “the enemy.”

Math teacher Tracye Bullock sees Cross Fit Legit as a fresher experience from her past fitness methods.

“I saw several people that I knew coming in and out of cross fit and they highly recommended it,” Bullock said. “For years, I worked out for years by myself, but have enjoyed cross fit because it is a group of people that challenge and support me.”

Classes go on throughout the day and price varies depending on how many times you go per week. The 4:30 pm class time is popular with both teachers and students, especially during off-season sports.

Sophomore Ronnie Beard joined Cross Fit Legit to keep his body ready for the upcoming season.

“I started going to keep myself in shape for track and just to be more healthy. It brings skill and intense workouts together, which keeps us in great shape,” Beard said.

Cross Fit Legit is a new power in the fitness center world, and is open to new students at any time.

“We coach everyone so they can be successful,” Miller said. “Members don’t just sign up, walk in and do what they think is right.  We coach people so they do all the exercises correctly.  This obviously makes for a safer workout, as well as most efficient.”
