The baseball team is third in the conference with an overall record of 20-7 and on a three-game losing streak. Even though his team has lost three games straight coach Kirk Bock does not believe his team is in a slump.

“We’ve just got to start winning. We’ve been in the position to win, but we just haven’t capitalized,” Bock said.

Senior Ozzie Hurt said for the team to return to its winning ways, it must start swinging the bats better.

“We’ve got to start swinging the bats better,” Hurt said,” Our pitching and fielding have been pretty good. We just have to become more consistent at the plate.”

The state tournament begins May 10, and Bock believes that no major changes need to be made for the team to make a deep run in to the tournament.

“All of the components are there. If we can just get everything working at the same time we will be fine,” Bock said.

The team faces off against the Cabot Panthers Friday, May 4.
