Softball defeated the Lady Cyclones 8-0, April 3. The team is now 19-0.

During the first inning, the team put 2 points on the board, but no one scored for the next three innings.

Senior Peyton Jenkins kept the other team at bay by pitching another no-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

“Peyton also had two double and a triple and scored three runs. One of the runs was on a “safety squeeze’,” coach Debbie Clark said.

The last two innings the team racked up four runs, one of which was scored by Jenkins.

“[Senior] Jesse Taylor bunted the ball and Peyton scored from third base,” Clark said, “This surprised everybody because Jesse is a power hitter.”

Senior Kayla Sory also had two home runs with four RBI’s.

Clark said that Russellville is a good team, and it was a good win her team.

“We played well, especially since we had played nine games in the last six days,” Clark said. “We were trying to put pressure on the defense and it worked.”

The team’s next game is at Conway Friday, April 6.
