    Black Friday is only three days away. Every year millions of eager shoppers participate in the annual sale.

    Last year, the United States hit their new record of sales. Total spending over Black Friday weekend hit a record $59.1 billion, up from $52.4 billion last year. The number of shoppers in store and online also hit a new record according to CNN.

    The majority of chain stores will open at 6 p.m. Thursday and will continue until closing the following day.

    Local stores such as Old Navy, rue 21, Bass Pro Shop, Kohl’s, Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Petco and more will be participating in the event.

    Everything will be 50 percent off at Old Navy starting at 7 p.m. Thursday night and will continue to Friday night closing time.

    Preparing for the crowd Thursday night, junior Clay Crandall stands behind the cash register at Old Navy.

    “I’ll be working that night. I personally think Black Friday is stupid,” Crandall said. “Why could anyone get into a fight over a shirt? Last year everything was 50 percent off, too.”

    Rue 21 provides several coupons including 70 percent off promotional codes online strictly for Black Friday. Buy one, get 50 percent off any boots, sweaters, girl outwear and other accessories will be available. Denim and skinny jeans will be buy one, get $10 off the next pair.

    Starting Wednesday Bas Pro will be having a five-day sale ending Dec. 1. Bass Pro’s Black Friday sales will only be Nov. 29 starting at 5 a.m. and ending at 11 a.m. All men and ladies’ full-zip fleece jackets and flannel shirts will be $10. All guns, bows and other hunting gear will be at least 25 percent off.

    Footwear, clothes, makeup, home décor items and all other accessories will be discounted in range of prices at Kohl’s.

    Thirty-two-inch LED HD TV’s will be only $98 at Walmart. LG Blue-Ray DVD players are available for only $40 and iPad minis are $300. Video games, CD’s, clothing and more will be on sale starting at 6 p.m.

    Target will be providing free shipping with any online purchase. Beats by Dre will be $50 off its original price of $250. All active and outwear and shoes will be 30 percent off. Movies, music and video games will be discounted at different prices.

    At 6 p.m. Thursday, Best Buy’s doors will open. Save $150 on an HTC One cellphone, $100 for a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone and win a $50 gift card with the purchase of a LG L2 smartphone for any phone plan. You can save up to $30 on Select Adobe Software with a camera, camcorder or computer.

    Ready to wait for Best Buy to open, sophomore Nathan Mcelwrath prepares to pounce on an iPhone 5.

    “I only go to Best Buy for Black Friday. They seem to have the best deals every year,” Mcelwrath said. “If their iPhone 5’s are on sale, I’m going to be first in line to grab it.”

    Fifty percent off treats, dog beds, fish tanks, clothing for dogs and all reptiles will be available at Petco. All items will be 50 percent off with Pals Rewards. Sign on to Petco’s online store to create a Pals Reward account to get exclusive savings.
