How to have a perfect picnic with friends

The spring months are the perfect time for a picnic, which are a great way to enjoy the amazing weather and also to enjoy time with friends.

“A perfect picnic would be a sunny day in the park with friends. I would bring a lot of food,” sophomore Krista Cortez said.

Hummus and pita bread, veggie sticks and dip and sliced fruit are great side dishes. For the main dish, salads, potato salads and sub sandwiches or finger sandwiches are easy, healthy food to serve.

Fun foods to bring are fruit rollups, chips galore, cookies and granola bars and fruit snacks.

“I would bring sandwiches, crescent rolls, potato salad, you always hear about potato salads, fruit baskets and sweet tea,” sophomore Hannah James said.

“And fried chicken,” English teacher Shawn Regan said.

Make sure to use hard containers to keep food in so it won’t be smashed and also so the food will keep cool and not spoil in the warm weather.

Classic drinks like lemonade, sweet tea and punch will help to set the Southern classy mood. For after activities bring bottled water.

A comfortable blanket is just as important as the food, so it is key to bring one that won’t be scratchy.

After eating instead of taking a walk around the parks path, bring kites, bubbles, Frisbees or footballs and basketballs.

“Picnics remind me of Razorback tailgates, so I would bring Baggo,”  Regan said.

Many places around central Arkansas are great to have picnic.

“The lake is always good,” James said. “Also Pinnacle Mountain or a pavilion at Burns Park.”
