Amid the outbreak of coronavirus that has resulted in positive test results in both Pine Bluff and Little Rock, Arkansas, the Arkansas Department of Health and Department of Elementary and Secondary Education have advised Bryant Public Schools to close as of at 3:30 p.m. March 12. The district has also canceled all school events until after Spring Break, with students returning March 30.

This move has cancelled all school gatherings, including Senior Week meetings, and as of right now, the school musical “Mary Poppins.” Teachers will not have professional development as scheduled Fri. March 20, which was to include the Teacher of the Year announcement. The district had earlier cancelled all out-of-state travel.

Students will be expected to complete any AMI work assigned by their teachers on Google Classroom. Students are also advised to follow Bryant Public Schools on social media and on their website to receive updates on the school’s status.

Students are advised to take any precautions necessary to prevent themselves and others from spreading coronavirus, including consistently washing their hands, regularly using hand sanitizer and avoiding touching their own and others’ faces.
