Boys Basketball:

The Hornets started their fight to the State Championship by travelling to Cabot last Friday to take on the Fayetteville Bulldogs. Bryant never lost control of the game on track to a 65-56 victory. The Hornets then played Conway to compete for a bid in the finals. A struggling Bryant offense was never able to pull away, leading to a heartbreaking 50-47 OT defeat.

Girls Basketball:

The Lady Hornets upset Bentonville last Wednesday in the first round of the State Tournament, winning 53-48. This was the second consecutive season Bryant knocked Bentonville out of the tournament, both years with the Lady Hornets going in as the underdogs. The next round didn’t go as well, as the Lady Hornets faced North Little Rock on Friday and were blown-out by the Lady Tigers, losing 60-26.

Baseball:

The Diamond Hornets opened the regular season at home against Arkadelphia last Monday. Senior starting pitcher Zach Johnson pitched a six-inning perfect game en route to a 10-0 mercy rule victory. The next day, the Hot Springs Lakeside Rams travelled to Bryant and were also mercy ruled in the sixth inning 10-0. The Diamond Hornets played their final game of the week against El Dorado in Bryant, and even though the result was not a shut-out, Bryant still routed the Wildcats 8-2.

Softball:

The Lady Hornets travelled to Sherwood this weekend to compete in the Sylvan Hills Taylor Roark Memorial Softball Tournament. Bryant opened the tournament with a 11-0 victory over Maumelle, but suffered a stinging 3-2 loss against Lake Hamilton in their next game. However, the Lady Hornets were able to recover and close out the tournament with a 3-1 record with a 12-0 win over Heber Springs and a 6-0 victory in their rematch against Maumelle.

Boys Soccer:

The Hornets participated in the Fort Smith Invitational Tournament this weekend and finished the weekend 2-1. After a 2-0 loss dealt by Fayetteville, Bryant was able to bounce back and win convincingly with a 4-1 score against both Catoosa, Okla. and Little Rock Central.

Girls Soccer:

The Lady Hornets were able to capture their fourth straight title at the Fort Smith Invitational Tournament this weekend. Bryant won their first two games with a 2-0 score against Fort Smith Northside and Mount St. Mary’s. The championship run was capped off with a 3-0 victory against Fort Smith Southside.
