Coffee lovers around Saline County held on to hopes as rumors of a new Starbucks circulated. The Starbucks was predicted to fill the location of the old Glenn’s 66 Service Station on the corner of Evan’s Loop and Reynolds Road. However, after many days of controversy, it has been announced that no Starbucks is to be set in city limits.

Construction will continue on the lot beside Mi Ranchito II. After the removal of in-ground petroleum tanks and environmental surveillance, the city plans for more than one business to fill the lot.

“There will be a small business center built there,” councilman B.E. Higginbotham said. “The anchor store will be an urgent care type medical clinic. The other lease spaces have no tenants at this time.”

Traffic was a main concern for citizens because of the lot’s poor location and the intense traffic flow on Reynolds Road. Higginbotham says traffic will not be affected, but the new stores will not be easily accessible.
