Seniors look forward to May 30 and meeting at Verizon Arena to take their first official steps into adulthood, graduation.
Seniors often don’t know how casual or formal to dress under the cap and gown.
Senior guys wear a button up with khakis or dress slacks. Even though the clothing does not show through the graduation gown, it’s always good to look nice.
Wearing no tie shows a relaxed and casual look. With a tie, a guy can look formal and business-like. A bow tie shows the quirkiness of a guy in high school but still portrays the professionalism of an adult.
Senior Logan Milks said he will wear a bow tie to stand out from the crowd.
“Every guy at graduation will wear a tie, and I really want to stand out with a bow tie,” Milks said. “A bow tie is also humorous and everyone will like it.”
Shoes are the only part of the outfit in full view.
The wardrobe rule and specification on shoes is extensive. At graduation, since it is a formal event, only dress shoes will be allowed, no flip flops or tennis shoes.
Senior Austin McEuen said the rule is necessary.
“Some rules are dumb,” McEuen said. “Graduation is a different story. And no one needs to do anything stupid.”
Whether they choose to go classy and formal or casual and relaxed, graduation outfits for guys are a crucial element to put the final touches on one of the most important days of a person’s life.
