The Dash For A Difference is back for the 5K run and 1 mile Fun Run. Saturday April 20 students who are attending will meet at 7 a.m., and can check in at the Middle School Cafeteria.

The Arkansas Bone and Joint Association is sponsoring the run to benefit the Bryant Boys and Girls Club.

Student can sign up by getting forms from their teachers, online or at the Building 10 office. If the applicant is under 18 years of age, he or she will need a parent signature. Each person who has been registered by March 12 will be guaranteed a t-shirt, and additional t-shirts will be available on a first come basis after the deadline.

“I’m in football, and with this race I can do some conditioning and training with my friends,” sophomore Conner Chapdelaine said.

Students who are signing up will each need one form per person and must be signed to participate. The race will occur rain or shine, but will be canceled if there are extreme circumstances. If it does get canceled, there will be no refund and the student’s entry fee will be considered as a donation to the Boys and Girls Club.

For students who want to run with their friends and be competitive, they can form a team. Teams can have from two to as many as people want to have in their team. They will need to create a team name and assign someone as their team captain.

One team who ran and one the spirit stick last year was the S.W.A.T.T. team, a group of boys who are all in sports. The SWATT stands for Sprinters, Walkers and Trash Talkers. Some of the members are sophomores Ben Bruick, Conner Chapdelaine, Drew Tipton, Clay Crandall, Dylan Wolf and Houston Clifton.

“We ran in it last year and won the spirit stick, with Dylan getting first place,” Chapdelaine said. “All of us are close friends and in sports, we’re also competitive, so this is a way for us to train together.”

The registration costs are $20 for pre-registered adults, $15 for pre-registered students who are in Kindergarten through twelfth grade, and $10 for children who are below school age. With each of those, the applicant will need to add $5 dollars for Race Day registration. A family maximum fee is $50 if they are pre-registered. Individual forms must be completed for each family member and then returned as a group with one $50 payment.

Students who register by April 12 are guaranteed a free t-shirt with their form.
