Meet Joules. As a senior, this is Joules’ first year on The Prospective staff. Alongside newspaper, she is a part of Bryant High’s Bella Voce choir, Quiz Bowl and French National Honor Society....

Job of the Week: Daniel Smith

Taking out the garbage, vacuuming and mopping are how senior Daniel Smith spends his weekends. Employed by The Cleaning Lady’s he cleans CoorsTek and Sharon Baptist Church.

He spends his Friday nights from 6 p.m to 8 p.m taking out the garbage and vacuuming the CoorsTek office.

“I don’t like taking out the garbage in the office the bags fall apart and normally have a lot of liquid in them,” Smith said.

From 8 p.m to 10 p.m on Sunday nights, Smith takes out the trash and mops the church.

“One time I took out the garbage at the church and there was a bell pepper in the men’s bathroom trash can,” Smith said.

The Cleaning Lady’s clean Smith Fiber Glass where Smith’s father works. Smith’s father began working for them part time and later asked his son to help out.

“I had been looking for a job, but nothing was working out,” Smith said. “So when my dad offered the job I took it.”

Despite the sometimes messy work, he said he enjoys his job and other employees.

“I am the youngest person that works there most of the people are anywhere from 30-50, but there is a guy who is 78 years old,” Smith said.

Smith said managing school and work is easy since he only works on the weekend.
