Northface jackets became a must-have clothing item about two years ago with the teenage group. Everyone had to have one to become “cool.” But recently a new style has come into play. Patagonia is a brand of hoodies/jackets that has rapidly showed up in all teenagers’ closets.
Northface prices range from $110 to $200 and can be found at Gene Lockwood’s in Little Rock, Dillard’s and Gearhead Outfitters in Park Plaza Mall. Patagonia prices are less, but they are harder to find. Patagonia Price ranges from $80 to $140 and are found in Gene Lockwood’s in Little Rock and Gearhead Outfitters, but have limited colors and styles.
Junior Shelby Burchfield has a Northface jacket and explained her reasoning for her brand of choice.
“Northface as a brand is just older than Patagonia,” Burchfield said. “When I think of Patagonia, I just see it as a shirt or small jacket. Northface jackets and coats are better for winter weather, and to me are just more durable.”
Burchfield says the price difference between the two competitive brands does not sway her opinion much.
“My Northface was around $115,” Burchfield said. “Patagonia is more ‘in’ but more expensive. I will just stick with my Northface.”
Sophomore Hannah James owns a Patagonia jacket and prefers it over her Northface.
“I just think they look better,” James said. “They are more comfortable than Northface jackets.”
James still prefers Patagonia even if finding one is a challenge.
“Patagonias are harder to find,” James said. “Especially with certain colors and styles.”
It’s a draw. For each Patagonia lover, there is a Northface fanatic.
