This school year, Bryant High School welcomes Crystal Hall as she joins for her first year as an assistant principal after the departure of Mrs. Parker.
Before coming to the high school, Hall worked as the District Literacy Specialist working with secondary schools across the district. Before that, she spent nine years teaching English, including 10th grade English and AP Literature.
“Coming back to the high school felt like coming home,” Hall said. “I love high school-age students. That’s what I taught. And then I really love my team here and working for Mr. Hay.”
This diverse background has given her a unique perspective on the needs of both the students and teachers she hopes to use in her new position. Her main focus in her new role is helping strengthen instruction.
“We have such good teachers here and so it’s not even about creating a space for good instruction,” Hall said. “It’s ‘how do we make good instruction even better?’ because I truly believe that everyone can always get better.”
When asked about her leadership style, Hall described it as a servant leadership style and explained her commitment to serving everyone at Bryant.
“I’m here to serve the students and I’m here to serve the teachers,” Hall said. “So, the decisions I make and the moves that I do and the priorities that I have whenever I’m planning my day, it’s who needs my help.”
Outside of school, Hall is a mom and coach. She and her husband, Michael, who she’s been with since middle school have two kids, Riley and Easton. Hall loves sports, having coached youth basketball, softball and soccer.
As Bryant continues to grow Hall looks forward to being part of the school’s future.
“This feels like home,” Hall said. “I love Bryant High School, and I can’t wait to help our students and teachers succeed.”
