Filling theaters worldwide, “The Hunger Games” features Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen, who sports a feminine and functional braid for the majority of the film. An inverted French braid, the Dutch braid uses the same technique of adding hair into each of the three strands.
Begin by sectioning off three small pieces of hair from the crown of the head. Then, take the section furthest to the right and braid it underneath the middle portion of hair, repeating the process on the section furthest to the left to form one complete braid. Do this a couple more times to form a base, so that if any hair loosens while braiding, it won’t ruin the slightly more complicated Dutch braid. Once you’ve braided about 2 inches down the scalp, begin incorporating hair into each section, until eventually all the hair has been braided at an angle along the back of the head and is gathered at the nape of the neck, then braid the remaining three sections normally and seal off the end with an elastic.
