Board Meeting Highlights

Student Senate President Sarah Brady updated the board on recent activities of the club:

The Leadership class worked on a “Leader I Admire” project by writing essays on a leader they chose.

The Community Committee visited the Bryant Senior Citizens Center. The students brought desserts and had lunch with them.

The Spirit Committee cheered on the varsity dance team by decorating their locker room.

The Faculty Committee decorated the maintenance department in honor of Thanksgiving.

The School Committee facilitated senior night, which recognized all seniors involved in fall sports and band.

Recognitions:

Health teacher Steve Griffith was selected as the ArkAHPERD High School Health Education Teacher of the Year.

Librarian Marcia Lanier completed the Arkansas Declaration of Learning. The program is a year long and engages educators to develop innovative curriculum.

The Partner’s Club volleyball team was named the Unified State Champs in the State Volleyball Special Olympics.

The board approved the following personnel items:

Dr. Tom Kimbrell resigns effective June 30, 2017.

Dr. Karen Walters transfers from Deputy Superintendent to Superintendent beginning July 1, 2016.
