Emily Carden, Writer
While I’ve only been in journalism since the spring semester of 2024, it’s become a fundamental part of my life. I’ve been able to grow my interest in creative writing and photography and prepare for a career as a freelance journalist. At our spring conference for the Arkansas Scholastic Press Association in 2024, I was named Newspaper Writer of the Year along with several other awards both state and nationally. Some of my goals for this year would be to really branch out in my photography and take risks in my writing to really get my voice into an audience where maybe teens aren’t always considered to be heard. When I’m not busy trying to meet deadlines for journalism, I’ve always got something going on between being a flutist for the Legacy of Bryant competitive marching band, studying theatre and playwriting, and having an infinite love for most types of books and making friendship bracelets.
