Freshman Lexi Summers works as a cashier at The Painted Butterfly. A family friend owns the new boutique and hired her for the job in March.
“I organize clothes, ring people up, talk to costumers about our products and answer the phone,” Summers said.
She said she normally works from 3:30 to 7 p.m after school and 10 a.m to 7 p.m on weekends. She is paid $7.50 an hour. Summers said she also really likes her job and the people.
“I have an awesome boss and she is really flexible. She works with my schedule and is very understanding,” she said.
Summers said the worst part about her job is the upkeep, taking out the trash and dusting.
“One time a guy in his late 30s with a kind of ‘man smell’ came in and asked me, a 15 year-old-girl, to help him pick out clothes for his girlfriend,” Summers said.
