1. Carve Pumpkins
Pumpkins at Walmart cost a little under $5. Grab a sharpie to draw the carving pattern you want, carving tools, a newspaper to lay the guts on, a warm drink, some music and candles to light up your pumpkins.
2. Bake or Cook
Going out to eat all the time can easily become expensive, so make a quick trip to the grocery store or grab some ingredients from around the house and have a contest to see who can create the best dish.
3. Have a Movie Marathon
Pick a few movies with a central theme, grab snacks and a blanket and cuddle up on the couch.
4. Go on a Picnic
When the weather is nice, pack some food (or grab some food to-go), head to the park and have a picnic. It is quieter, prettier and cozier than a restaurant.
5. Go Hiking
Hiking is a great way to get active. It’s free and fun, and there are plenty of places to go all around central Arkansas.
6. Go to Sonic for Drinks
Just hanging out in the car with delicious Sonic drinks is one way to have a great time with each other for a tiny price.
7. Build a Bonfire and Make S’mores
Build a fire and bring some chairs around it. Get some marshmallows, graham crackers, chocolate bars and any other S’mores ingredients you can think of (such as Reeses peanut butter cups).
8. Go for a Scenic Drive
Gas is cheap right now. As the leaves change colors, take the scenic route and drive some back roads. Talk, sing songs and take in nature together.
9. Play a Board Game
If you and your significant other like friendly (or not-so-friendly) competition, board games are the way to go. Find your favorite and make an afternoon of it.
10. Go to a Community Festival
Many festivals within the community are free of charge with local entertainment provided.
