Playoff implications, a conference championship and bragging rights are on the line Friday as the football team will square off against Conway at home.
“I never thought in a million years we both would come in undefeated but this is what you work all year for,” senior middle linebacker Connor Chapdelaine. “Its just crazy that it’s going to be senior night and how everything is panning out just how we want it to be.”
Both teams come into the game undefeated and are playing for a first round bye in the playoffs. If Bryant
wins, it will have a first round bye and will either play the winner from Springdale Har-Ber and Rogers Heritage or Conway Nov 21. If the team loses to Conway, it will either play the winner of Springdale Har-Ber or Rogers Heritage Nov 14.
“I wouldn’t have this game any other way,” coach Paul Calley said. “We have to play near perfect to beat them because they’re solid at every position but I think these group of guys can do it.”
The team has been without starting defensive tackle Cameron Murray because of pneumonia but is expected to play.
“If he was 100 percent, he would have a huge impact,” Calley said. “He’s lost about 15 pounds, but he’s still going to go and give it all he’s got.”
Senior Hunter Fugitt is also plagued with injury by hurting his shoulder against Siloam Springs.
“Most likely I’ll be able to go,” Fugitt said. “I don’t think it will affect me too much when the adrenaline kicks in so I think I’ll be okay.”
Fugitt is this years leading tackler with 51.
“These injuries could be huge in terms of us stopping them,” Calley said. “We have to get stops; forcing punts will key, if we can’t do that and they make the offense drive 80 yards every time it will be hard for us win.”
