Sophomore Seth Shepard shows off his 1966 Mustang everywhere he goes.
“Me and my dad restored it,” Shepard said. “It took about a year and a half. It’s been a great investment. It was a piece of junk when I got it.”
Shepard said that his Mustang has come a long way.
“One of my dad’s high school friends sold it to us. He got it from an older lady who just drove it to church and back every week. Eventually, she passed away and her son sold it to my dad’s friend,” Shepard said. “People always tell me how beautiful it is. I don’t let anyone drive it except my parents.”
Along with every first car, said he has made memories in it that he’ll never forget.
“I came up from the ground with my dad restoring it,” he said. “I want to keep it for a long time. My favorite memory with my car is working on it with my dad. That’s time you can’t take back. He’s taught me pretty much everything I know about cars.”
Since he has an older vehicle, his insurance is lower than most 16-year-old’s insurance.
“If I was to get a 2014 vehicle right now, insurance would be insane,” Shepard said. “I have a six cylinder which is like the size of a weed eater. So I get pretty good gas mileage. I love my car.”
