After their 54-41 victory over Conway Tuesday, the boys basketball team is now 14-9 overall, 6-5 in conference.
The game as close is it could be. The team was down by 1 point at first quarter and 2 at halftime.
Three of the team’s best players were in foul trouble in the first quarter. Senior Brantley Cozart, senior Quinten Motto and sophomore Anthony Black had two fouls each.
Coach Michael Abrahamson said the other players stepped up for the team.
“Cambron had 8 points and Jiles had some good minutes,” Abrahamson said.
Abrahamson also was proud of the team’s overall play.
“It was our best job all year at executing our offense,” Abrahamson said. “Players were all focused. The guys did a good job mentally and on defense.”
This Friday the team travels to play Cabot.
Last time the team played Cabot, players had 20 turnovers and lost be 4 points.
“It’s a game that we were highly disappointed in our performance,” Abrahamson said. “It’s going to be hard to get [a win] there, but we have to do it.
State starts Feb 29 and with only three games left in the season, competition is heating up. Bryant is currently ranked third in conference.
“The top 6 go to state so we’ll still have to win a few more games,” Abrahamson said. “We’re focused on Cabot right now. We can’t control any of the other teams.”
