Senior Karissa Howard drives a small, red 1990 Toyota pick up truck to and from school.
She first got the truck in Christmas of 2011, as a present from her mom and grandparents.
Karissa has had the truck for almost a year now. She said she likes the truck for getting where she wants and needs to go, but she would prefer to have a different type of car.
“I do like it because it gives me a ride where I need to go and not many people have the same vehicle I do, but then again it’s an older vehicle so it has its problems,” Howard said.
She said every time she speeds up to get on the highway, it makes a sound like a bumblebee. Since then, she said she sometimes calls her truck “the bumblebee.”
She said there are pros and cons to her small truck. She said there are times where she likes it being small and sometimes she hates the way it is small.
“I like it that it is still a truck, but it’s also small, so I don’t have to worry about being able to fit in small places,” Howard said. “ I hate that it is so small that some of my friends like to pick up the back of the truck and turn it sideways.”
