The 3rd annual senior picnic, which was held on Oct. 14, during advisory, both lunches and fourth period. It was located in the horseshoe of the bus loop. For the first time, food trucks were part of this year’s Senior Picnic, offering new food options for students.
“We kicked things off with four food trucks this year,” Senior Sponsor Lindsey Fell said. “They were excited to try them, and it definitely added variety.”
Fry Fry Crazy offered loaded fries, burgers and wings; La Mapanega served burritos, quesadillas and Philly cheesesteaks; Antojitos La Tehuanita served tacos and quesadillas with toppings for students to add on the side; and Dessert Lab provided a variety of different desserts and sweets. Kona Ice returned to serve snow cones, a staple since the first Senior Picnic.
“The food trucks gave us something to look forward to,” senior Jaimen Scott said, “but I didn’t like the fact that some people were waiting in line for about 20 to 40 minutes, just for people to cut in front of them.”
Multiple students expressed their dissatisfaction with the food truck lines and wait times.
Students said they waited between 20 and 40 minutes to receive their food, which led the lines to form around the trucks. As more students arrived, the lines began to become confusing and crowded, with some people waiting to order and others waiting to pick up their food.
“People were cutting; it was disorganized, and very crowded,” senior Ethan Robertson said. “It was very hard to actually get the food and know if you were next in line or had another 30 minutes to wait.”
Despite these issues, Seniors filled their afternoon by taking pictures, and catching up with friends. Many sat in the grass to eat, while others lined up to watch as administrators took turns in the dunking booth.
“It was fun to just hangout with everyone and take pictures,” senior Sanai Farmer said. “It felt like one of those moments where you realize this is your last year.”
