President Donald Trump was sworn in around 11 a.m. at the U.S. capitol on Inauguration Day, Jan. 20, making him the 47th president.
Due to cold weather conditions, the inauguration was held inside the Capitol Rotunda this year, meaning people who bought tickets were not able to attend.
Hours after being sworn in, Trump started signing executive orders including changes to foreign policies, immigration policies, government policies and social policies.
One of Trump’s first executive orders was to fully pardon 1,500 of the participants from the Jan. 6 insurrection.Another of Trump’s executive orders was to declare a national emergency on the southern border regarding border security.
Additionally, Trump signed an order that revokes the birthright citizenship of children who were born to parents without legal status, although this action is already being challenged.
Another order Trump signed includes the United States withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement, which he did in his previous presidency, but former President Biden rejoined in 2021.
