Tap, jazz, ballet, modern, lyrical, contemporary, musical theatre. These are just some types of dance for Senior Brittany Denman.
Denman started dance at the age of 3. Her mom was also a dancer, and she was the one who initially signed Denman up. Denman said now she cannot live without it.
“I can’t imagine my life without dance,” Denman said. “It keeps me in shape and also lets my emotions come out.”
Denman trains at the Center Stage Dance Academy in Sherwood. She also teaches gymnastics and instructs girls on their solo work.
In the last year, Denman won fifth place at nationals for her solo performance and sixth overall for Jazz for ages 12 and up. She also placed eighth in regionals.
“Regionals has some really hard competition,” Denman said.
Denman said she loves dance so much she intends to incorporate dance into her future career.
“I’m going to major in dance at UALR. They are the only ones near her that offer the degree I want,” Denman said. “I plan to work at a studio when I graduate.”
