Library Appreciation Week occurred from Monday April 11 to Friday April 15. Librarians Marcia Lanier and Rebecca Downey held a contest that required students to write how they felt about the library in order to be entered into a drawing to win a $25 Barnes and Noble gift card. Junior Seriniti Brown was the winner of the drawing.

Senior Tanner Austin:
“Somehow the library is the perfect example of a true democracy–a place where the spectrum of ages, culture, genders, and ethnicity can meet and have a chance to enjoy the great adventures books bring to our lives.” Senior Tanner Austin

“Libraries are the only place where students can print papers, so it’s important by default.” Sophomore Jacob Rhode

“Libraries provide a safe place to escape for people who normally wouldn’t have one.” Senior Lizzy Trimble

“Libraries are great, because they provide students with a good environment to do work.” Sophomore Zeia Robinson

“Libraries are awesome! Not only do they provide us with tools to provide us an education, but they also provide us with a place in which we can have fun and be peaceful.” Senior Janny Pavon

“We strive to serve our school community and support the curriculum in all that we do. I feel the library and its staff is a tremendous resource that is not fully utilized. Many of the students that we see on a daily basis treat the library as more of a student center than a place for study, reflection, discovery and support. We have more to offer than just a comfortable chair.” Librarian Rebecca Downey
