Surviving Senioritis
January 13, 2016
- Become friends with your teachers.
They write recommendation letters and have the power to make your final year wonderful or unbearable.
- Actually try to get some sleep.
Receiving more sleep at night will make it easier to pay attention in class, which might lead to actually learning something.
- Get an app on your phone to count down the days until graduation.
Seeing the days getting closer to graduation will give you the motivation to persevere through the second semester.
- Go to Class
As much as you do not want to, go to class as often as you can. Teachers will still count you absent even if your excuse is that you were sick with senioritis. You do not want to miss too many days and risk not graduating.
- Become close with your classmates.
Friends make everything better, even those last dreaded months of high school. The days of walking through the halls of BHS are slowly coming to a close, but making memories with your classmates will allow the time go by faster.

The feeling is so true. Being a senior has made me daydream of a door that can’t be opened until, May 22. Being Class President kinda adds on to the feeling of (Senioritis). Teachers don’t see you as just a student. They see you as an adult and treat you like one. Which feels very respectful. I have spoken to MANY students about the final day of High School and not one person has said, “Im not ready”. Which in a way kinda freaks me out. Senioritis scares me. It makes me think of “my future” and what successes I’ll have. The only cure is to Graduate. The question I have for everyone is “Are you ready to graduate?” Many will say “yes”, but that is such a typical answer you will receive from a senior, but the real question is “Are you ready for adulthood?”. My advice to seniors is to live it up while you still can. Create these memories as good ones. There is no 2nd chance in High School.

I’ve become friends with most of my teachers and it honestly makes going to class so much more enjoyable! It’s always a good thing to make friends with people in your classes, it definitely helps make school fun and makes for good memories also! School may not always be fun, but it’s best to just soak it all up and enjoy it! Time flies and someday we will all be looking back on these memories, so we have to cherish the time we have! 🙂

I definitely agree! Teachers can help with recommendations and scholarship stuff. And creating new friendships with other seniors make your last year a whole lot better.

This is so true! Especially befriending your teachers. They will write you killer reccomendation letters. If you treat them with respect, they help you get money.
