    How to keep hair & skin healthy in winter

    This winter, don’t scare family away with brittle hair and cracked skin. Be the talk of the dinner table with unbelievably smooth hands and flowing hair. Cool air dries out hair, making it brittle and fall off. It also dries out your skin resulting in cracking, rough skin.

    For skin in the winter, moisturize daily. This is the best thing for the skin. This will keep your

    skin from drying out. Good ways to moisturize would be using hydrating lotions. In the mornings, add exfoliating skin to your morning routine. This will lock the moisture in your face. Use gentle cleansers to keep from making your skin hard and dry.

    Sophomore Jennifer Phan prides herself on keeping her skin and hair healthy and said she takes care of her skin even more in the winter.

    “I put lotion on my face twice a day,” Phan said. “Even in the winter, I put sunscreen on to protect myself from the sun. My skin is very delicate,”

    To maintain beautiful locks, stock up on leave in conditions. Leave in conditioners are made to stay in your hair over night to moisturize. Do this at least once a week for best results. Also, try air-drying hair before blow-drying. This will let the moisture sink in from shampoos and conditioners before putting heat on it. Going to the salon once a month for a professional deep-conditioning treatment will be a great way to get your hair at its highest potential. Between treatments, use gentle shampoos and deep conditioners.
