ROTC competed Saturday in a drill and color guard competition in Malvern. Three types of color guard teams competed, all boys, all girls and mixed. Trophies were awarded for color guard drill, knockout games and other drills.
“Color Guard performs just like we do at the football games except we have to uncover the flags before and after we perform. Then we leave and wait for the results,” Senior Elizabeth Price said.
In the last competition the boys got 5th place and mixed got 3rd. This time however the teams did not place.
“One of the flags got caught in the net and we had to start over and it didn’t get better after that,” Cripps said
All teams go through a graded inspection in class A uniform, pins and ribbons. To pass and compete, each member must be able to state what each ribbon represents.
“It was really fun last year and it was my first trophy. I wanted to go back and do it again,” Price said.
