“The Vow”
This upcoming romantic-drama film stars Channing Tatum and Rachel McAdams as the leads. McAdams plays Paige, a woman whose car accident launches her into a coma. Her husband Leo (Tatum) must face the challenge of helping her to recover the memories she lost while in her coma. The film releases Feb. 10.
FAMILY FRIENDLY:
“Big Miracle”
This PG romantic-drama is based on the 1989 novel “Freeing The Whales” by Tom Rose. It stars Drew Barrymore and John Krasinski as two environmentalist workers who fall in love as they seek to free three California gray whales trapped deep within the ice of an Arctic Circle hole. The film releases Feb. 3.
HORROR/SUSPENSE:
“The Woman In Black”
A remake of the 1989 film of the same name and a cinematization of the novel by Susan Hill, “The Woman In Black” is a thriller film starring Harry Potter lead Daniel Radcliffe, his first major movie appearance since the Potter saga. Radcliffe stars as Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer in charge of settling the legal matters of a deceased woman. While staying in her house, he encounters a ghost labeled “Woman in Black,” a specter who, when seen, prompts the death of a child immediately after. The film releases Feb. 3.
ACTION:
“The Grey”
This action-thriller film stars Liam Neeson and a multitude of others as a gang of men stranded in Alaska after their planes crashes in the wild. They have nothing to help them survive and must use every resource they have to fight the cold and the pack of wolves that hunts them. The film releases today.
SCI-FI/FANTASY:
“Chronicle”
This upcoming science fiction film stars Michael B. Jordan, Dane DeHaan, Michael Kelly and Alex Russell. The quartet play a group of friends who become endowed with superhuman abilities. At first, they use them to play pranks and jokes and in general, create mischief and mayhem. All is fine until one of the group decides to utilize his powers for evil. The film releases Feb. 3.
COMEDY:
“One For The Money”
This upcoming action-comedy film centers around the premise of the 1994 novel of the same name, written by Janet Evanovich. Starring Katherine Heigl and Jason O’Mara as the leads, Stephanie Plum (Heigl), an unemployed, broke woman turns to her dishonest cousin to find work. She becomes a bail enforcement agent and takes on the challenge of tracking down a former vice cop wanted for murder (O’Mara); it just so happens that the man was also a former flame of Plum’s who seduced her and dumped her soon after in high school. The film releases today.
