Recognitions:

Leftover money from the 2014-2015 school year was used to provide the Legacy of Bryant Marching Band new uniforms. Members displayed the new uniforms to the board.

Out of State Travel Requests:

The softball team requested to attend the Gulf Coast Classic II tournament March 18-24, 2017. Varsity and junior varsity will play five or more games at the competition and costs will be covered by the teams booster club.

Coach Wooten’s request for the dance team to compete at the National Dance Team Championships was approved for Feb. 2-6, 2017. All costs will be covered by fundraising and working concessions at baseball games.

The cheer team’s trip to the National High School Cheer Championship Feb. 9-13 of 2017 was approved. The trip cost will be covered by cheerleaders and their parents.

The baseball team requested two out-of-state trips to compete. The competitions, taking place in Waco, Texas and Tampa, Fla., were both approved for the the spring of 2017. The team’s yearly coupon card fundraiser will pay for the trip.

Expulsion of a student:

Student A was caught with unauthorized prescription medication on campus. Student A also admitted to selling medication to other students. The approved plan expelled student A for the fall semester and enrolled them in Positive Learning and Creative Education program and the “I Discover, I Discuss, I Decide” (ID3) program.

Approval of new curriculum program:

The board approved a year-long plan for Hanover Research to review the BPSD curriculum and determine areas of improvement that could then be implemented the next year with approval. The proposed plan consists of “measurable benchmarks.” The reviewing process started the week after the meeting. The one year contract for $36,000 must be renewed in 2017 for any changes to take place. See more here.
