Sports Buzz: State Tournament Recap

Baseball:

The Diamond Hornets opened up their weekend in the Class 7A tournament with a 4-0 shut-out victory over Cabot. Senior Zach Johnson pitched a three-hit shutout, while senior Evan Lee batted in two runs to lead the team in scoring on the day. Bryant displayed an even more dominant performance against Springdale Har-Ber in the semi-finals, run-ruling the Wildcats in a 10-0 victory. The Diamond Hornets will travel to the University of Arkansas’ Baum Stadium to play Conway in the 7A State championship game.

 

Softball:

The Lady Hornets began their play in the Class 7A tournament against the Har-Ber Lady Wildcats last night. Bryant had no troubles at all during the game, winning with a 14-1 scoreline in five innings. Sophomore Regan Ryan broke the record for most singles in a single season after a four-hit performance. The Lady Hornets next game was against Bentonville, and the team came up just short, falling to the Lady Tigers in a 4-3 loss.

 

Boys Soccer:

The Hornets’ season came to a close last night after a 3-1 defeat against Har-Ber in the first round of the Class 7A tournament.

 

Girls Soccer:

The Lady Hornets played Har-Ber in the first round of the Class 7A state tournament, and continued their undefeated season with a 3-1 victory over the Lady Wildcats. Bryant fell short in the semi-finals against the Bentonville Lady Tigers, as the team was edged out in a 5-4 shootout loss. The Lady Hornets end their season 20-1-1.
